The Art of Childhood Workshop + Styled Shoot
Photographing Childhood Through Storytelling & Play
This intimate Workshop + Styled Shoot Experience will be limited to just 8 photographers to ensure plenty of shooting time, individualized instruction, and a relaxed learning environment.
A hands-on educational experience designed for photographers looking to strengthen their skills while building their portfolio.
This unique event combines the best of both worlds — practical education and real shooting opportunities. Participants will learn how to create authentic childhood portraits through interactive experiences, storytelling, and child-led sessions before immediately applying those techniques during a guided styled shoot.
We'll cover how to use props, animals, activities, and interactive setups to keep children engaged throughout a session. From toddlers to older children, you'll learn how to create variety, capture personality, and build a complete gallery without relying on stiff poses or forced smiles.
Topics will include:
• Working with Children of Different Ages
• Creating Interactive Sets
• Storytelling Through Portraits
• Using Prompts Instead of Poses
• Photographing Children with Animals
• Keeping Children Engaged Throughout a Session
• Building a Complete Gallery from Limited Movement

Workshop & Styled Shoot Stations Will Include:
The Wishing Well & Donkey
(Working with older children ages 6–12 while incorporating animals naturally into a session.)
The Little Greenhouse Helper
(Interactive storytelling with younger children ages 2–6 using hands-on activities and movement.)
Fruit Bath at the Vintage Sink
(Creating variety, emotion, and a complete gallery for babies, sitters, and toddlers ages 6 months–2 years.)
