Planning your first rental at The Little Ranch Farm? Learn about arrival, parking, lighting, props, animals, weather, seasonal sets and policies.
Visiting a new photography location for the first time should feel exciting, not stressful.
Knowing where to park, how early to arrive, what the light looks like, which props you can bring, and what is included in your rental makes it much easier to plan a smooth experience for your clients.
The Little Ranch Farm is a private six-acre photography property in Santa Fe, Texas, conveniently located between Houston and Galveston. Created by photographer Natasha Snyder, the property offers more than 30 photography designed areas, original seasonal sets, specialty add-ons, and private rental time for photographers and their clients.
If you are preparing for your first farm rental, here is everything you should know before arriving.
The Farm Is Available by Appointment Only
The Little Ranch Farm is our family’s home, private property, and a working homestead.
All rentals, visits, and tours must be scheduled in advance. Photographers and clients should not enter the property outside their reserved rental time without prior approval.
If you would like to see the farm before booking, please contact us to schedule a tour rather than stopping by unexpectedly.
Your Rental Time Is Reserved for You
Standard farm rentals provide exclusive use of the property for you and your clients during the reserved time.
We do not routinely double-book photographers. This gives you the freedom to explore the areas without waiting for another photographer, competing for a set, or working around crowds.
During periods of severe weather and widespread rescheduling, we may occasionally ask whether photographers are willing to share the property. This would only happen with advance communication and your approval.
Your Rental Includes Setup and Breakdown
Rental time includes everything that happens on the property:
Photographer arrival
Client appointments
Equipment setup
Prop placement
Outfit changes
Cleanup
Packing and loading
If your rental ends at 7:00 p.m., all sessions and cleanup should be completed by 7:00 p.m.
Photographers hosting mini sessions should leave small buffers between clients and reserve enough time to manage the full experience without feeling rushed.
Your First Visit Includes a Quick Tour
First-time renters receive a quick property tour so they can become familiar with the farm.
We will show you the primary photography areas, parking, restroom, and any reserved seasonal installations or add-ons. Once you understand the property layout, you are free to explore and create during your rental.
The farm contains many large signature locations along with smaller hidden spaces, so do not be afraid to look beyond the first area you see.
Parking and Client Flow
A designated parking area is available for photographers and clients.
When entering the property, follow the parking signs rather than stopping near a photography area. The wrap-around driveway helps clients enter and leave more easily, which is especially convenient when photographers are hosting several mini sessions.
Send your clients clear directions and appointment times before the session. Encourage them to arrive with enough time to park and prepare, but not so early that several families overlap.
Children must remain supervised throughout their visit because this is an active farm with animals, equipment, water, and working areas.
A Farm Restroom Is Available
A restroom is available near the parking area for photographers and clients.
Please remember that this is a farm restroom and is not climate-controlled. Clients should arrive mostly dressed and prepared whenever possible, particularly during hot or cold weather.
Photographers planning sessions with wardrobe changes should account for the additional time required.
Learn How the Light Moves Across the Property
The main photography areas—including the greenhouse, vintage truck, pond, and many featured locations—are generally backlit during the morning as the sun rises from the back-left side of the property.
Some areas receive direct afternoon light before returning to softer shade closer to sunset and golden hour. During summer, the pecan trees provide the vintage truck with shade several hours before sunset.
Lighting conditions change with the season, current installations, weather, and natural growth across the property.

You May Bring Your Own Props
Photographers are welcome to bring props and styling pieces to create their own vision.
A wagon is available near the parking area to help move smaller items across the property. All setup and breakdown must remain within your rental time, and every item you bring should leave with you.
Props should not damage the grass, structures, plants, sets, or other areas of the farm. Contact us before bringing anything unusually large, heavy, messy, or difficult to remove.
Electricity Is Available by Request
Electricity may be available for photographers using lighting, equipment, or approved props.
If you will need access to power, include that information when booking so we can prepare the correct area before your arrival.
Bring any extension cords, power strips, or equipment required for your setup unless other arrangements have been confirmed.
Seasonal Sets and Add-Ons Must Be Reserved
Standard farm rentals include access to the available regular photography areas throughout the property.
Seasonal installations and specialty items are separate add-ons unless specifically stated otherwise. These may include fall sets, Christmas installations, floral designs, the miniature greenhouse, vintage tricycle, flower swing, styled rowboat, and other rotating experiences.
Select the correct installation or add-on when making your reservation. Some experiences require advance setup, assistance, or safety preparation and cannot be added after arrival.

Mini Sessions Are Welcome
Photographers may use their rental time for regular sessions, mini sessions, branding appointments, or other photography work.
The Little Ranch Farm does not charge an additional fee simply because you are scheduling multiple clients during your reserved time.
Seasonal and themed add-ons are especially helpful for Christmas minis, fall sessions, spring portraits, Easter minis, Mother’s Day events, and other limited seasonal offerings.
Your rental still includes access to the available standard farm locations when a themed installation is added.
Pets and Livestock May Be Permitted
Dogs and other pets are welcome when appropriate for the session, but they must remain safely leashed and supervised. Photographers and clients are responsible for cleaning up after their animals.
Horses, cattle, lambs, goats, and other livestock may also be brought to sessions. The wrap-around driveway makes it possible to bring a trailer into and around the property.
All animals must remain properly controlled, and the renter assumes responsibility for their safety and behavior.
Farm animals belonging to The Little Ranch Farm should never handled, or included in photographs without permission.
Boudoir Sessions Are Permitted On the Farm.
Boudoir photography is permitted at The Little Ranch Farm. Photographers who require complete privacy should select the privacy add-on when reserving their rental.
Because this is our family’s home and a working farm, normal activity may continue throughout the property. If the privacy add-on is not selected, complete privacy cannot be guaranteed. Photographers are responsible for choosing appropriate locations and preparing their clients for the level of privacy included with their reservation.
Understand the Weather Policy
Texas weather can change quickly.
If severe weather makes the property unusable, The Little Ranch Farm will work with the photographer to reschedule according to the current rental policy. Weather decisions are generally made close to the rental time because forecasts frequently change.
Rental fees are non-refundable.
Reschedules are not ordinarily provided for cloudy weather, wind, muddy conditions, client cancellations, or photographer scheduling conflicts. Photographers should establish their own client policies with the farm’s rental terms in mind.

Dress for a Working Farm
The Little Ranch Farm is intentionally maintained for photography, but it remains a working outdoor property.
Grass, dirt, uneven ground, insects, mud, animals, plants, and normal seasonal farm conditions are part of the experience. Photographers should wear practical shoes and encourage clients to bring walking shoes when their portrait wardrobe is difficult to move in.
Bug spray, water, a towel, hair products, comfortable shoes, and weather-appropriate supplies can be helpful depending on the season.
Respect the Property
The Little Ranch Farm represents years of work by our family.
Every structure, garden, pathway, set, and photography location has been created and maintained with care. We ask photographers and clients to treat the property as they would want someone to treat their own home.
Children should remain supervised, flowers and plants should not be picked, props should be handled carefully, and all trash should be removed before leaving.
If something is moved with permission during a session, return it to its original location before the rental ends.
